What can art do for you? it can give you a view where you had no window, it can remind you of a special place or time. It can can also compliment your personal style or just be the touch that makes a space welcoming and comforting to you. As an artist my job is to create beautiful images that create emotion. While I start with reality, I am likely to end up somewhere else as inspiration takes over.: I capture the essence of my subject, and intensify it. People call me an Abstract Expressionist. Color is my language and I am drawn to subjects that resonate with me whether it be a barn or a flower. Art is personal and I hope you will visit this gallery and decide if my work speaks to you. I have traveled the world and live in beautiful California but have also been inspired by poetry and the patterns and textures found in old buildings. Sometimes I dream a painting before I paint it, Sometimes I have a concept but the painting takes over and goes somewhere else.
I am inspired by the masters of the past and so many brilliant living artists I have been honored to learn from.
Often asked to demo, people are intrigued by the colors and textures in my work. I prefer acrylic and mixed media because many layers dry quickly and I can manipulate the paint with brushes, my hands, and a collection of unusual tools. I love the spontaneity of large brushes and dripping paint. I enjoy experiments with the media and often incorporate several in a painting. For me it's not about the media so much as getting the effect I want.
An award winner in my teens, my art career was put on the back burner in favor of an MBA, and corporate and entrepreneurial endeavors. I became a collector and student on the side. A life threatening accident reminded me we aren't promised a tomorrow, and I went back to art seriously. Now my work is in private and corporate collections in the US and overseas.
